U.S. men’s hockey team beats the heavily-favored Soviet Union at the Olympics in California.

The underdog U.S. team, which includes a number of players from Boston, beats the heavily-favored Soviet Union 3-2 at Squaw Valley. The team goes on to beat Czechoslovakia 9-4 for the gold medal.
